How can local food ecosystems connect with global markets to accelerate sustainable innovation in the food and climate sector?
This Thursday Gathering explores the intersection of food systems, climate innovation, and international collaboration. Bringing together founders, ecosystem builders, investors, policymakers, and industry experts, the evening focuses on how local networks and global partnerships can support the next generation of food and food tech companies.
From community-driven infrastructure and knowledge exchange in Berlin’s food ecosystem to international market access and export support, the session highlights the systems, relationships, and collaborations needed to help early-stage ventures grow beyond local boundaries. Join us for discussions on building stronger food innovation ecosystems, enabling cross-border cooperation, and creating resilient pathways for sustainable food entrepreneurship.
How can strong local communities and international partnerships help young food and food tech companies grow? This Venture Café session at CIC Berlin brings together ecosystem builders, market access experts, and international partners to explore how local networks, knowledge exchange, and international market access can support the next generation of food entrepreneurs.
The program will focus on two closely connected dimensions of ecosystem development.
The first part "Food made in Berlin. Welche Infrastruktur braucht die Ernährungswirtschaft von morgen?" will look at local networking and ecosystem building in the food and food tech sector. We will discuss how communities, cross-sector collaboration, mentoring, and knowledge transfer can create practical support structures for early-stage food companies and innovators. The session will explore what young companies need in order to grow, connect with the right partners, and navigate the complex food industry landscape.
As part of this discussion, we will also highlight the latest developments at CIC Berlin and introduce Food Connect Berlin, a new networking hub for Berlin’s food community launching this summer. Food Connect Berlin aims to strengthen collaboration across the local food ecosystem, connect startups, industry, public institutions, and support organizations, and create new opportunities for knowledge sharing and cooperation.
The second focus will be on "International Food Market Development & Export Support". Together with international experts, we will look at how export promotion programs work in practice and how they can help food companies access new markets. A special spotlight will be placed on the Import Promotion Desk, presented through a current example of cooperation with the Ukraine Food Manufacturer Alliance.
The panel will also include perspectives from other leading export countries, offering insights into different approaches to market entry, ecosystem collaboration, and international business development. Participants will gain a better understanding of how companies can prepare for international expansion, what support structures are available, and how partnerships can help bridge local innovation ecosystems with global opportunities.
The session is designed for food startups, food tech companies, ecosystem partners, innovation hubs, trade promotion organizations, investors, public institutions, and anyone interested in building stronger bridges between local food innovation ecosystems and global markets.
